Should college basketball players get paid?

Jim Calhoun's recent tirade got me thinking - isn't it the players who do the work? College basketball players get paid nothing while the college reaps millions off their labor. Most of these guys come from poor backgrounds, and only a lucky few will make the NBA. Sure, they get scholarships, but maybe its time the colleges drop the "amateur scholar-gentlemen" angle (they've long since dropped it, imho), and pay players what they deserve. Your thoughts?
